The Sangareddy police and the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE), Telangana, have frozen properties valued at nearly ₹30 crore from six individuals accused of selling contraband alprazolam.

The accused, identified as Girmagouni Sudheer, Bishweswar Singh, Rajeshwar Sharma Joshi, Girmagouni Srivani, Bhavanigari Prabhu Vara Goud and Gajjela Srishailam Goud, were earlier apprehended after police seized 1,090 grams of Alprazolam in commercial quantity.

A case was registered under Crime number 231 of 2024 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Gummadidala police station in Sangareddy district.

Following the arrests, investigators found that the accused and their close relatives had acquired numerous properties using profits from the illegal sale of alprazolam. These included large parcels of agricultural land, residential villas, luxury vehicles, bank balances, and a chemical factory. Officials collected ownership documents such as sale deeds, property tax records, building permissions, bank records and invoices to confirm the assets were funded by illegal drug proceeds.

On July 2, the authorities formally forfeited the assets with confirmation from the competent authority in Chennai. The estimated government value of the seized properties is ₹6.10 crore, while their market value is believed to be around ₹30 crore.

Amongst the assets seized from the accused are 12.29 acres of land worth over ₹29 lakh, an SUV worth ₹41 lakh, and a bank balance in the name of Girmagouni Sudheer. Bishweswar Singh was found to have 6.37 acres of land, 1,439 square yards of open plots jointly owned with his wife, and an MUV vehicle registered in her name. A chemical factory at Abdullapurmet, listed under multiple accused and Singh’s wife, was valued at over ₹7 crore.

Rajeshwar Sharma Joshi held 0.22 acres of agricultural land and a 214 square yard plot. Girmagouni Srivani possessed 2.20 acres of farmland, a bank balance of ₹3.75 lakh and a luxury sedan. Bhavanigari Prabhu Vara Goud owned 18.23 acres of land, two bank accounts with over ₹13 lakh, and a villa in a gated community in Medchal-Malkajgiri district valued at more than ₹90 lakh. Gajjela Srishailam Goud’s assets included five acres of agricultural land, of which four acres were in his wife’s name, a villa in Chandanagar worth over ₹43 lakh, a bank balance and an SUV.
