Protest against Yatnal for ‘defamatory’ remark

Members of Muslim organisations waved black flags in Almel of Vijayapura district against expelled BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal in protest against alleged “defamatory” remarks against their community.

Protestors stopped his convoy on the main road and waved black flags against him. They said that they are upset with his statement that he will offer ₹5 lakh to any Hindu youth who manages to elope with a Muslim girl.

Tension prevailed for a few minutes, before the police cleared the route.

The protestors included several women.

Meanwhile, the police took all protestors into custody.

As reported, Mr. Yatnal made the remark in Koppal when he went to meet the family members of a young man who was killed over an inter-faith relationship.
