Patna: The first round of admissions to undergraduate courses for the 2026-27 academic session in colleges under Patna University (PU) concluded on Saturday, with the university set to release the second cut-off list on June 15 for vacant seats in various honours subjects.Earlier, PU had published the first cut-off list on June 10, shortlisting 3,123 applicants for admission to different undergraduate programmes. However, not all candidates selected in the first merit list completed their admission process during the admission window.Dean of students’ welfare Kameshwar Pandit said around 6,572 students had applied for admission to regular BA, BSc and BCom honours courses in Patna College, Patna Science College, B N College, Vanijya Mahavidyalaya and Magadh Mahila College.
Of these, 6,424 were found eligible. The merit list was prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Class XII examinations while adhering to the reservation roster, he said.To assist applicants, elected class representatives of the Patna University Students’ Union and volunteers from student organisations, including ABVP and NSUI, set up help desks across colleges. The desks provided information on courses, seat availability, major and minor subjects, fee structures and cut-off lists.
Pandit said candidates shortlisted in the second merit list would have to complete admissions between June 16 and June 20. If seats remain vacant, the third and final merit list will be released on June 21, with admissions scheduled from June 23 to June 26.He added that admissions to some self-financed courses would be based on entrance tests to be conducted later. Entrance examinations will be held only for courses where applications exceed sanctioned seats by more than 150%.--
