After a brief dry spell, monsoon showers have returned to Pune, with several parts of the city experiencing heavy downpour since Monday night.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an Orange alert for continued rain in the city and surrounding areas over the next few hours.

Amid rainfall in Pune, the IMD has warned of heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in parts of the state, including nearby regions like Mumbai and Raigad.

In response to the situation, Mumbai Police have urged citizens on social media to avoid visiting the seafront.

Local authorities have also advised citizens to remain cautious, especially during peak traffic hours, as isolated waterlogging and reduced visibility could affect movement.

Meanwhile, other districts in Maharashtra — including Raigad, Kolhapur, and Ratnagiri — are witnessing intense rainfall, with rising river levels and flood alerts issued in some areas.

In Raigad, continuous heavy rain since last night in the Mahabaleshwar region has increased the flow into the Savitri and Gandhari rivers, prompting flood warnings.

Authorities have said tidal waves between 4–5 meters are expected around 2:30 pm today, which may raise water levels in the Savitri River across coastal areas.

District administration in Mahad, Poladpur, Mangaon, and Goregaon has been directed to remain on high alert. Rescue teams have also been asked to stay prepared.
