BATHINDA: A member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and sarpanch of Tarida village in the Guru Harsahai assembly segment of Ferozepur district, Jashan Bawa, died by suicide late Saturday.
He reportedly shot himself with his licensed firearm.Bawa was well known and respected in the area for his active participation in social causes. While the exact reasons behind his tragic decision remain unclear, some of his friends shared that he had been feeling disheartened due to being sidelined by certain senior AAP leaders in the region.Shortly before taking his life, Bawa posted a poem by Parkash Sathi on his Facebook wall, which many interpreted as a signal of his intentions.A large number of people from nearby villages, who knew Jashan, gathered at his home, urging a deeper inquiry into the circumstances leading to his death. Some requested a delay in the cremation to allow for further clarity, but the family eventually chose to go ahead with the last rites.Following his passing, numerous friends and well-wishers took to social media to express grief and condolences. A few also alleged that a senior AAP leader had been harassing Bawa, suggesting that this may have contributed to his distress.
