Punjab's Education Minister Harjot Bains said that the teachers of all the government schools will conduct a thorough inspection of the school buildings before they reopen.

The situation in Punjab remains concerning, with the death toll in the state rising to 48 due to the flood, as two more deaths have been reported. The disaster in the state has affected lives, properties and agriculture. Crops on 1.76 lakh hectares have been damaged because of the floodwater.
However, the schools, colleges, and universities in the state are set to open from today, September, according to a statement by Education Minister Harjot Bains. He also mentioned that for the schools that are affected by the flood, the decision will be taken by the respective deputy commissioner.
While the private schools reopen from today, the government schools will resume from tomorrow, September 9.
In a post on X, Bains said,"On September 8, all government schools in the state will remain closed for students. Teachers will be present in schools and cleanliness drives will be carried out with the assistance of panchayats, municipal councils and corporations."
“Teachers will conduct a thorough inspection of the school buildings. If any problem or defect is found, it must be immediately reported to the deputy commissioner and the engineering department of the district," he added.
