Punjab and Haryana were placed on high alert on Monday following the high-intensity blast near the Red Fort in Delhi.

The Punjab Police in a statement said that in the wake of the blast in Delhi, a red alert had been sounded across all districts in the Punjab. “Commissioners of Police/Senior Superintendents of Police have been asked to remain alert. Police force has been deployed at sensitive and vulnerable spots, and checking of vehicles and suspicious people has been intensified,” the statement said.

Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) O.P. Singh said the State had been placed on high alert. “All police officers are in their respective areas. Vehicle checking is being conducted at inter-State borders. Checking of public transport, parking areas, hotels, etc., is also being done,” Mr. Singh said in a post on social media platform X.

“Special vigilance is being maintained in the National Capital Region (NCR) districts,” the DGP said.
