The Punjab Police has released the notification for Constable recruitment in 2026. The recruitment drive will fill 3,297 vacancies in the District Police Cadre and Armed Police Cadre.

Candidates who have passed Class 12 from a recognised board can apply for the posts. The application process will begin on March 10, 2026, and candidates will be able to submit their forms online until March 30, 2026 through the official Punjab Police website.The recruitment process will include a written examination followed by physical tests and document verification. Candidates interested in joining the Punjab Police are advised to check the eligibility conditions, age limit, and selection stages before submitting the application form.

Vacancy details for district and armed police cadres

The recruitment drive will fill a total of 3,297 constable posts across two cadres. Most vacancies are available in the District Police Cadre. The remaining posts are in the Armed Police Cadre.According to the notification, 2,522 posts are available in the District Police Cadre and 775 posts are in the Armed Police Cadre. The vacancies will be distributed across different categories such as General, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections, and other reserved categories as per government rules.

Eligibility criteria and age limit

Candidates applying for the constable posts must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. However, ex-servicemen candidates are eligible with a Class 10 qualification.Applicants must also have studied Punjabi in the matriculation examination or an equivalent level recognised by the Punjab government.The minimum age required is 18 years, while the maximum age limit is 28 years. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates from reserved categories according to government rules.

Selection process and pay scale

The selection process will begin with a computer-based written examination. Candidates who qualify in the written test will be called for the Physical Screening Test (PST) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT).Those who clear the physical tests will have to appear for document verification before the final selection list is prepared.The selected candidates for the post of constable would be paid a starting salary of ₹19,900 monthly, according to the government pay scale.
