NEW DELHI: Punjab Police has requested details from dating platform Tinder regarding an account potentially connected to Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, who faces charges in a Sikh activist's murder case.Faridkot police's correspondence to Tinder concerns their investigation into the murder of Sikh activist Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau, who was fatally shot on October 9 whilst returning from the village Gurdwara on his motorbike. Nau was affiliated with 'Waris Punjab De', an organisation led by Amritpal Singh.Last October, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that Nau's killing was allegedly orchestrated by Amritpal Singh, who is presently detained under the National Security Act.Authorities indicated that gangster-turned-terrorist Arshdeep Singh (Arsh Dalla) orchestrated the killing. Two gang members involved in the shooting have been arrested under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Arms Act.The police communication dated May 26, viewed by PTI on Saturday, detailed the investigation of murder case FIR No. 159 dated October 10, 2024, registered at Sadar Kotkapura Police Station, Faridkot."On 09-10-2024, Gurpreet Singh, a well-known online activist, was shot dead by two assailants on a motorcycle.
The deceased managed a Facebook page 'Hari Nau Talks' and had been outspoken against the Sikh radical Amritpal Singh. Shooters have been apprehended and are under investigation.""During the course of investigation, a Tinder account under the name 'Amrit Sandhu' (screenshot attached) was identified, and the account is suspected to be linked with Amritpal Singh, accused in the said FIR. The communication and analysis of data might provide evidence to the Investigating Agency relevant to the FIR," the police wrote.The authorities have requested comprehensive account information from Tinder, including subscriber details, personal information, location data, and IP logs since January 1, 2019. They also seek information about linked accounts, media files, contacts and chat history.Amritpal Singh, representing Khadoor Sahib constituency, is currently imprisoned in Dibrugarh jail, Assam, under the National Security Act (NSA).As leader of 'Waris Punjab De', Amritpal, who modelled himself after Khalistani militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, was imprisoned alongside nine associates under the NSA.
