Punjab worker abducted, beaten after quitting job over unpaid salary, CCTV shows

A 19-year-old factory worker in Punjab's Ludhiana was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted by his former employer and several associates after he quit his job over a salary dispute, police said. The incident, which took place in broad daylight, was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area.

The complainant, identified as Parvesh Gupta, has alleged that he was abducted and beaten by the accused over a long-running dispute regarding unpaid wages. Based on his complaint, police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

According to Parvesh, he had previously worked as a machine operator at a factory owned by one of the accused. He claimed that he left the job around a month ago because he was not being paid his full salary. The worker further alleged that he had earlier been assaulted when he demanded his pending wages from the employer.

In his complaint, Parvesh stated that on June 16, he was on his way to work at his current workplace near HTM Tools Factory when a black Mahindra vehicle stopped near him. Several men, identified as Karan Kumar Yadav, Ronny, Anil, Pramod, Rajiv and two unidentified individuals, allegedly got out of the vehicle, forcibly grabbed him and pushed him inside the car.

PASSERBY TRIED TO INTERVENE BUT IN VAIN

Parvesh alleged that the accused then took him to Karan Industries Factory located in Gali No. 19, where he was held against his will. He claimed that he was brutally assaulted inside the factory premises and threatened with dire consequences.

According to the complaint, some passersby who witnessed the incident attempted to intervene and stop the accused. However, they were unable to prevent the men from taking the worker away.

Police said CCTV footage from the area has provided crucial leads in the investigation. The footage reportedly shows the alleged abduction taking place in public view.

Sahnewal Police Station SHO Dalvir Singh said a case has been registered against the accused based on the complainant's statement. He added that investigators are examining CCTV footage and other evidence collected from the scene.

Police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused. Further investigation into the case is underway.
