The Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, raided the premises of an unqualified practitioner in Nagaram village, Maheshwaram mandal, Rangareddy district, and seized medicines stocked without a valid licence.

On September 18, acting on credible information, DCA officials raided the clinic of Chenna Tirupathi, who was found practising medicine without proper qualifications. During the raid, officials detected 23 varieties of drugs, including antibiotics, analgesics, and physician’s samples, all stocked without authorisation. The seized stock was valued at about ₹50,000.

DCA flagged the indiscriminate stocking and sale of antibiotics by unqualified persons as a serious public health risk, noting that such practices can contribute to antimicrobial resistance. Samples of the seized drugs were lifted for analysis.

The raid was carried out by Drugs Inspector Dr. P. Sravanthi Reddy under the supervision of Assistant Director G. Prasad. Authorities said further investigation is underway, and action will be taken against the offenders under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
