Quinn Hughes’ tenure with the Vancouver Canucks ends, as he won't be eligible for an extension until July 1, 2026. Earlier reports suggest that the high-performing player of the team, Hughes, signed a six-year contract in 2021, which runs through the end of the 2026-27 season, indicating that he can only extend it till July 2026.
This contract's end has not stopped speculation about his long-term future with the Vancouver Canucks, and he chooses to remain steadfast and determined about his game. Let’s take a look at how the NHL player wants to work despite his contract ending.
Quinn Hughes does not feel skeptical about his future with the Vancouver
Quinn Hughes has recently spoken about how he is totally unfazed about the growing speculations about his future with his team Vancouver Canucks, with whom his contract is ending soon next year.
The 25-year-old remains very determined and looks forward to playing with his brother. Fueling the chatter was the president of hockey operations, Jim Rutherford, who, during his year-end availability, noted Hughes’ interest in one day playing alongside his brothers, Jack and Luke, in New Jersey.
Meanwhile, speaking to Sporstnet, Hughes stated about his plans and how he remains determined, despite the rumors swirling around him.
He stated, "One thing I’m really good at — or have gotten good at — is I’m very present. I can’t even sign for another year, so there’s nothing I can do. As far as the noise (about his future), I can handle the noise. That’s why I’m the captain of the team, because I can handle these things, and I can play at an elite level, and it doesn’t matter what’s going on around me.
""And as far as the noise around my teammates, I’m going to try to help everyone else, too, and be as good a leader as I can be.
Noise doesn’t bother me. It’s a long year, and I’m just going to be day-to-day and focus on the short term. That’s the truth, honestly," Hughes further added.
