As many as 310 men were caught harassing women and girls in public places across Rachakonda in a fortnight-long drive. The offenders included 181 adults and 129 minors, all of whom were counselled in the presence of their family members at the LB Nagar CP Camp Office.
Between September 1 and 15, She Teams received 339 complaints. Among these, 64 related to harassment over phone calls, 117 through social media platforms and 158 in person. Seven complaints resulted in criminal cases, 98 in booked cases, while 210 were resolved through counselling.
Women Safety DCP T. Usha Rani said that harassment in any form would not be tolerated. Commissioner of Police G. Sudheer Babu added that She Teams, working in plain clothes, patrol metro stations, bus stops, schools, colleges, markets and other public places, catching offenders red-handed with evidence before producing them in court or counselling them.
Police highlighted some notable cases. In one incident, a man was arrested for indecent exposure near a women’s hostel. In a separate case, a married man harassed a young female relative by pressuring her to have sex with him and marry him. At LB Nagar bus stand, She Teams also arrested a nuisance offender following public complaints.
Alongside these actions, She Teams conducted 79 awareness programmes during the fortnight, educating women and girls about their rights, legal safeguards, and precautions to be taken. Special decoy operations were also held in metro trains, where seven men travelling in the women’s compartment were caught and fined by metro officials.
Officials urged women not to hesitate to report harassment and to contact She Teams through the Rachakonda WhatsApp helpline 8712662111, or area-specific numbers operating in Bhongir, Choutuppal, Ibrahimpatnam, LB Nagar, Maheshwaram, Malkajgiri, Vanasthalipuram and Yadadri.
