Rahul Deshpande recalls first action scene in ‘O’ Romeo’, says Nana Patekar ‘handled everything’

Classical singer and actor Rahul Deshpande recently stepped far outside his comfort zone. Known for his musical brilliance and his acclaimed role in 'Me Vasantrao', Rahul faced a brand-new challenge on the sets of 'O’ Romeo'.

For the first time in his career, he performed an intense action sequence.

First time holding a gun

During a recent interaction with Bollywood Bubble, Rahul admitted he felt nervous while shooting a chase sequence. The scene required him to carry and fire a pistol — something he had never done before.“I had never held a pistol before in my life. My first shot was a chase sequence, and I did not know how to hold a gun properly. The action director told me, ‘No, you have to shoot with one hand.’

That was a learning moment for me,” Rahul revealed. For an artist rooted in classical music and theatre, the physical demands of an action scene felt unfamiliar.

Nana Patekar’s reassuring support

Rahul found unexpected comfort in co-star Nana Patekar. The veteran actor quickly noticed Rahul’s hesitation on set. Instead of letting him struggle alone, Nana stepped in with calm reassurance.“Nana ji was very sweet. He saw that I was a bit uneasy and told me, ‘Don’t worry, just react according to your character, I will handle everything.’ I just reacted, and he managed the entire action. It was a very wholesome experience,” he shared. That simple advice changed everything, allowing Rahul to focus on emotion rather than the technical mechanics of the scene.
