Rahul Gandhi alleges major ‘vote theft’ in 2024 Haryana polls; claims ECI in cahoots with BJP

Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi dropped another major “vote theft” claim on Wednesday (November 5, 2025), alleging that there were 5.21 lakh duplicate voters in the electoral rolls ahead of the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections that the BJP won.

The Congress MP held a press conference in New Delhi, during which he alleged that vote theft was happening “not just constituency level, but at the State and National level”.

Mr. Gandhi further claimed that “thousands of people” registered as voters in both Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, including one voter who whose photograph appeared 223 times in two booths.

“The EC does not want a fair election. This is absolutely clear proof of what the BJP is doing,” said Mr. Gandhi. “They (ECI) want to create space. [for fake votes] They are destroying CCTV footage.”

The Congress leader alleged that there were 1,24,177 voters with the same photo in Haryana.
