Indian Railways announced that all new rakes for Mumbai Suburban division will have automatic door closer facilities to enhance passenger experience.

In an attempt to enhance train passengers’ experience, the Indian Railways on Monday announced that all rakes that are being manufactured for Mumbai Suburban division will be equipped with automatic door closer facility.
Further, the Railways will also redesign all rakes currently in service to enable them with door closure facility.
This comes after some Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-bound passengers lost balance and fell off a moving train at Mumbra railway station in Thane district earlier today.

As per preliminary probe, around 10-15 passengers reportedly fell on the railway track from the moving train
News agency ANI, citing Central Railways, reported that the reason behind the accident is believed to be excessive crowd on the train. Soon after the incident, the railway administration and police reached the spot and review the situation. The incident also claimed one life and left many others injured, the Central Railway confirmed.
The injured were taken immediately to the nearest hospital. Meanwhile, a probe into the deadly incident is underway. Local services were affected due to the incident.
“Some passengers travelling towards CSMT fell from the train at Thane’s Mumbra railway station. The reason for the accident is believed to be excessive crowd in the train. The railway administration and police have reached the spot. The injured are being taken immediately to the nearest hospital. Investigation into the accident has begun. Local services have also been affected by the incident," read the statement issued by the Central Railways.
CM Devendra Fadnavis Condoles Thane Tragedy
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief over the tragedy and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
“It is very unfortunate that a total of 8 passengers fell from a local train between Diva-Mumbra station and some of them lost their lives. I pay my heartfelt tributes to them. We share the grief of their families. The injured have been immediately admitted to Shivaji Hospital and Thane General Hospital and are undergoing treatment. The local administration is coordinating. I pray to God that the injured get relief soon. The Railway Department has launched an investigation into the exact cause of this incident(sic)," CM Fadnavis tweeted in Marathi.
