Monsoon has arrived in several southern states, bringing respite from increasing temperatures and scorching heat across the country.

Delhi-NCR weather update: Rain lashed parts of Noida
Rain lashed parts of Noida on Saturday evening with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) also predicting a change in weather for Delhi. The weather department forecast a cloudy sky and light rain for the national capital and adjoining areas.
“Light rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds speed reaching 40-50 kmph likely over many places over Delhi," said the weather department in an official release.
“Northwesterly winds prevailed with speed up to 20 Kmph gusting to 37 kmph in past 24 hours over Palam Airport," it added.
An orange alert for heavy rain is also in place for Delhi.
According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi settled at 37 degrees Celsius on 31 May, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius.
The arrival of the monsoon in several southern states has changed the weather across the country, providing relief from the scorching heat.
Taking to X, the IMD issued a storm warning for the next few hours.
“A group of clouds/tornado line moving from the northwest-southeast direction towards the northeast is likely to bring light rain and lightning to most parts of Delhi in the next one to two hours, accompanied by winds at a speed of 50-60 km per hour, which may occasionally reach up to 70 km per hour," it said in the post.
