The State is likely to see a brief pause in rains for the next one week until August 27, but there may be scattered showers at isolated places.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD-Amaravati), the low-pressure area over central parts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh has become less marked on Wednesday (August 20). However, the associated cyclonic circulation remained over southeast Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood, while lower tropospheric south westerly/westerly winds prevailed over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
There was not much rain on Wednesday as well. However, A.P. State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) Managing Director Prakhar Jain said officials in the districts of Alluri Sitarama Raju, East Godavari, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, Kakinada, Eluru and West Godavari have been alerted in the likelihood of increased flood inflows in the Godavari river, according to an official release.
Meanwhile, the first warning will continue to be in place at the Prakasam Barrage in the Krishna river on Thursday, he said, adding that the State Disaster Response Force teams have been stationed in low-lying areas.
