Raj Nidimoru talks about the struggles behind Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’; says, ‘No one wanted to take the risk’

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is basking in the success of her much awaited release, ‘Maa Itni Bangaaram’. Recently, her husband and filmmaker Raj Nidimoru who came up with the story shared how difficult it was to make the film.

He also revealed that many people did not believe in the project and even backed out.

Raj Nidimoru says the film had no backers

In a conversation with News18, he shared that no one wanted to take a risk and the film had no backers. “It’s self-funded in a way because no one wanted to take a risk. But that’s what I had to battle all my career – making movies that aren’t usually backed by others. It’s hard to find people to do these kinds of films,” he said.

Why the budget was kept small

Speaking about the film’s budget he added that he always prefers making films on a controlled budget.

He suggested that very big budgets create pressure and force filmmakers to make unwanted decisions.“This is made on a very tight budget.” He added, “When you’re scared about the huge monies on your back, you start making compromises and start doing packaging such as putting songs, dance and all kinds of gimmicks.”

Raj Nidimoru believes the film changed old beliefs

He also feels the success of ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’ has proved that women-led action films can also attract audiences from day one.

He said the film changed the belief that female-led movies only become successful through word of mouth after release.Released on June 19, ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’ earned Rs 2.50 crore in India net collections on Tuesday, according to Sacnilk. It minted over Rs 33.20 crore in India net collections, and the worldwide gross collection stands at Rs 55.71 crore in six days.
