Meghalaya police have recovered a pistol from Indore, which allegedly belongs to Raj Kushwaha, the alleged mastermind who is accused of hiring men to kill transport businessman Raja Raghuvanshi during the latter’s honeymoon with his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem told The Indian Express that a pistol was recovered by the Meghalaya police team, which has been camping in Indore for the last few days and has been busy recovering crucial evidence connected to the case.
“The pistol belongs to Raja Kushwaha,” Syiem said.
The police have not yet commented on whether the pistol was registered or where it was obtained. The investigators have also been busy looking for a laptop that belonged to Sonam.
Police on Tuesday arrested the eighth accused in the case, Lokendra Singh Tomar, who is wanted for alleged destruction of evidence. Sonam had stayed in his flat while the police were trying to track her down.
The SIT had also arrested property dealer Silome James in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh and security guard Balla Ahirwar from Ashok Nagar district on similar allegations.

The police probe has prima facie revealed that Raj and Sonam were in a relationship before she married Raja. The match had been arranged by their families. Police believe the killers followed the honeymooners to the Northeastern state, and killed Raja at an isolated spot. His body was then dumped into a gorge, and it had taken the police days to recover.
