Ranbir Kapoor's portrayal of Lord Ram in the 'Ramayana' teaser has captivated audiences, marking a seven-year journey for director Nitesh Tiwari. This ambitious two-part saga, with Part 1 slated for Diwali 2026, offers a glimpse into Rama's world. The film boasts a stellar cast and music by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
The first teaser of 'Ramayana' was released on Hanuman Jayanti, giving audiences their initial look at Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram. As the teaser receives much love from the audience, director Nitesh Tiwari revealed that the ambitious project took seven years to reach this stage.
The film is planned as a two-part saga with Part 1 releasing on Diwali 2026.
Nitesh Tiwari's seven-year journey
As quoted by PTI, director Nitesh Tiwari spoke about the long process behind the film. He said, "To reach till this moment, it has personally taken me seven years. Filmmaking is a speculative and lonely process. Every moment of these seven years, I've imagined this moment as to what the reaction would be when it comes out." He added, "Today, looking at your reaction, I feel the seven years are worth those seven years.

'Ramayana' teaser releases on Hanuman Jayanti
The makers unveiled the two-minute-38-second teaser on the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. It offers a glimpse into Lord Rama’s world, from battlefields to grand palaces and dense forests. Ranbir Kapoor is seen in royal robes adorned with heavy gold jewellery as the king and warrior of Ayodhya. The teaser focuses on Rama’s journey.
Alia Bhatt’s sweet shoutout
Alia Bhatt shared her husband’s first look on Instagram. She wrote, "RAMA. In cinemas globally. Diwali 2026 & 2027." Meanwhile, the teaser was also launched at special events in Los Angeles and New York in the last two days.
Cast and release plans of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer
The epic film features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Other actors include Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan. The project has music by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer. Part 1 is scheduled for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 for Diwali 2027.
