The Commissioner confirmed that the City Police headquarters at Purani Haveli, which has been under renovation for three years, is also nearing completion.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, on Tuesday (June 3), announced the formal return of the Ramgopalpet Police Station to its original spot on James Street, Secunderabad. The announcement was made during his visit to the historic building, which has recently undergone renovations undertaken by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).

Originally constructed in 1900, James Street Police Station served the community as the Ramgopalpet Police Station for an uninterrupted stretch of 116 years before its operations were relocated in 2016. Mr. Anand, reflecting on his own tenure as DCP Central Zone, recalled the station’s importance as a site for numerous public initiatives and police programmes.

With the restoration now complete, Mr. Anand revealed that the police force would begin moving equipment and staff back to the site shortly. The formal inauguration of the restored station will be done by district in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.

In a related update, the Commissioner confirmed that the City Police headquarters at Purani Haveli, which has been under renovation for three years, is also nearing completion. Once operational, he plans to work from this historic premises every Friday.
