Ranchi Celebrates 40th National Eye Donation Fortnight with Successful Blindfolded Run for Vision

Ranchi: The 40th National Eye Donation Fortnight was observed with the ‘Blindfolded Run for Vision – 2025’ at St Xavier’s College by the Eye Donation Awareness Club and Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank.Finance minister Radhakrishan Kishore flagged off the run by releasing balloons and later filled an eye donation pledge form, giving a strong message of eye donation to the public.Over 30 families of deceased eye donors were honored with shawls, certificates, and mementoes. Hundreds of students from St. Xavier’s College, Ursuline Inter College, NSS volunteers participated in the run and the awareness rally that followed.Dr Bharti Kashyap, director of Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank, said, “The country has recorded over one crore deaths annually, yet only 50,000 corneas are donated, with just 30,000 reaching transplant.”
