Ranchi Municipal Corporation Proposes Organized Vending Zone at Rock Garden to Alleviate Kanke Road Traffic

Ranchi: Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has proposed a dedicated vending zone at Rock Garden to decongest Kanke Road, where roadside hawking and traffic bottlenecks have become a routine problem.

The plan came after an on-site inspection on Saturday, when civic officials also reviewed unused land at Edalhatu for development.Commissioner Sushant Gaurav said the 1.58-acre Rock Garden plot will be designed to accommodate street vendors in an organized manner, with parking facilities to prevent spillover onto the main road. “Kanke Road has long struggled with unregulated vending. An organized vending zone will not only help vendors but also make the daily commute easier for thousands of residents,” he said.At Edalhatu, the civic body is preparing a detailed development plan for its 4.8-acre land parcel. The site will be fenced with a boundary wall to prevent encroachment, while plantation and green cover will be integrated into the development. Potholes on the adjoining road, noticed during the visit, are also set to be filled.“Our goal is to transform idle corporate land into secure, usable spaces for the public. Edalhatu will see green development, while Rock Garden can become a model vending zone,” Gaurav added.
