Ranchi Police Fines Over 1300 Vehicles in Week-Long Traffic Norm Enforcement Campaign

Ranchi: The traffic wing of Ranchi police imposed fines on 1,351 vehicles during a week-long drive against the violation of traffic norms, particularly illegal parking, conducted from Oct 26 to Nov 1.The campaign was carried out against illegal parking, use of pressure horns, black films, boards and light fixtures, sound pollution, and breach of other provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act.It said that fines were imposed on 1,162 vehicles for unauthorised parking at public places and roadside. As many as 47 vehicles were fined for fixture lights, 35 for pressure horns, 29 for triple riding, 19 for black films, 17 for wrong-side driving, and 12 for having boards with designation.Traffic SP Rakesh Ranjan stated that the objective of the drive was to send a message that people should not park vehicles illegally as it causes inconvenience to common people, adding that the violation of traffic norms also raises the chances of accidents. The traffic wing said that vehicles found stationed in no-parking areas would be towed to the traffic control room and fines imposed on them.
