Ranchi: The Ranchi railway division has launched special trains to various destinations, ahead of the festive season across the country to cater increased rush of passengers during the upcoming season of Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivals.A Ranchi-Gorakhpur-Ranchi weekly Diwali/Chhath special train will start from October 10 till November 2. “The train will start from Ranchi railway station every Saturday and start its return journey from Gorakhpur on every Sunday during the period,” said Shuchi Singh, senior divisional commercial manager of Ranchi railway division.Another Ranchi-Anand Vihar terminal-Ranchi Diwali/Chhath special train will operate from October 17 to November 2, to cater to the needs of thousands of passengers.
The train will start from Ranchi every Friday and return from Anand Vihar every Sunday.The railway official further added that another pair of Ajmer-Ranchi-Ajmer trains will start from September 26 to November 30. “The train will run from Ajmer every Friday and make its return trip from Ranchi every Sunday,” Singh added.Apart from the trains launched by the Ranchi railway division, the south eastern railway (SER) has also started several pairs of trains via Ranchi, during the festive season.
A pair of weekly festive special trains from Santragachi in West Bengal to Rajasthan’s Ajmer via Ranchi has been started from August 4 till November 24.“During this time, the train will start its journey every Monday from Santragachi to Ajmer via Ranchi and return every Thursday on the same route,” SER said in a statement.A Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad-Bhubaneswar special train via Ranchi will also operate every day during the season to facilitate the festive rush. The special train started its operation from August 19 and will continue till December 1.Three more pairs of trains connecting Coimbatore-Dhanbad, Podanur Barauni, and Charllapalli-Raxaul via Ranchi will operate during the festive season.
