Rapid progress on Bicholim bypass service roads

Bicholim: Work on the service roads along the newly constructed Bicholim bypass has been in full swing over the last few days. Sources said that the work has been undertaken by highway authorities to ensure smoother traffic flow.

Currently, construction of two service roads along the second underpass is under way.These service roads will reduce the distance by nearly 2-2.5km for commuters from areas like Maulingem, Ona, Krishnanagar, Ganeshnagar, Gothneshwarwada, and Bordem who use this stretch to travel to cities like Mapusa, Panaji, Sanquelim, Valpoi, and Belagavi.Local Subhash Gaonkar thanked highway authorities for constructing service roads along the stretch. Sources indicate that plans are in place for a service road on the opposite side to assist motorists. However, some two- and four-wheeler riders are already using the under-construction roads, endangering their lives, said Praveen Teli, another local.
