Curated by Kolkata Kathokatha, the exhibition will display a collection of rare artefacts and documents that trace the filmmaker’s creative journey. “We have been allotted a few boxes where we are displaying movie booklets of Ghatak’s films—small-format publications that carried short synopses of the movies when they were originally released. These are rare documents of that era,” said Arindam Routh, art collector and one of the main minds behind the exhibition.

The display will also include original handwritten letters by Ghatak, old film advertisements, rare books authored by him, original photographs, and, most notably, the original censorship certificate of his acclaimed film Subarnarekha. “By the way, Ghatak made only nine films,” Routh added, underscoring the filmmaker’s brief yet powerful cinematic legacy that continues to shape Indian film history.
