Rashmika Mandanna’s 'The Girlfriend' crosses half a million mark in North America

On the back of strong momentum, stellar performance and competent writing Rashmika Mandanna and Rahul Ravindran’s The Girlfriend has crossed half a million mark at the North American box office.

The film has already turned a profit for the distributors as break even was pegged at USD 400,000.The Girlfriend' tells the story of Bhooma (Rashmika Mandanna), a woman navigating the complexities of love and autonomy in a relationship that slowly turns toxic. The film is getting a lot of praise for exploring all phases of love and making sure it is relatable to everyone. According to ETimes, “Rashmika beautifully captures the subtle emotional shifts, grounding Bhooma’s complex journey with nuance and conviction.

”The Girlfriend began its journey in North America with a collection of USD 144,000 on day 1 which included its premiere day collection. By Monday the total collection of the film had crossed USD 439,000 and by Tuesday evening the film had added another USD 97,000 to its kitty, taking its overall collection to beyond USD 500,000 mark. Going by the trends the film is expected to cross USD 1 million from its entire theatrical run.

In India also the film has had a good weekend run where it opened to a dull Rs 1.3 crore but over the next 2 days it added Rs 2.55 crore and Rs 3.1 crore respectively. But Monday onwards the film has been on a slippery ground with Monday hitting Rs 83 lakh and Tuesday at Rs 54 lakh.The total collection at the end of 5 days stood at Rs 7.77 crore. With The Girlfriend, Rashmika continues her dream run as an actress with films like Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Thamma, Dhanush led Kuberaa and Vicky Kaushal headlined Chhaava.
