Cricket star Ravichandran Ashwin recently turned the spotlight on Malayalam cinema, showering praise on actor Basil Joseph for his daring role in the thriller 'Sookshmadarshini'.“What a film! How many people have the courage to do that role… Outstanding,” Ashwin exclaimed, clearly impressed by Basil’s performance.

The thriller follows Manuel, who returns with his mother to their old home in a middle-class neighborhood. One drawback that can be pointed out is with the characterisation. Why is Priyadarshini’s character so invested in the problem of Manuel’s mother, to an almost annoying extent? Her skepticism could have been explained as some cute character trait from the beginning.
