Real Madrid Sketching Up Sensational Move To Rope In Man City Star Rodri: Reports

Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly planning a sensational swap for Manchester City’s Ballon d’Or winner Rodri according to sources.

The Spanish Capital City club are said to be preparing an offer of around the £130m mark for the 29-year-old midfield maestro as Xabi Alonso looks to strengthen his side.

Rodri’s current contract with City runs till 2027, but Pep Guardiola and Co. are working on finalising a contract extension.

Rodri, who spent his youth at Rayo Majadahonda, Atletico Madrid, and Villarreal, broke through the ranks of the Yellow Submarine to make his senior debut in 2015. After three years at the Estadio de la Ceramica, the Spaniard transferred to Atletico Madrid in 2018.

He won the UEFA Super Cup with the Rojiblancos that same season before joining Manchester City for a fee of £63 million. Since arriving in England, Rodri has won the Premier League title four times, as well as the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the Community Shield, the UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Rodri has also been the key player for the Spanish national team, which won the UEFA Euro 2024 title and the UEFA Nations League crown in the 2022-23 season. His contributions earned him the Ballon d’Or in 2024, edging out Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior for the prestigious award.

With two years remaining on his contract, including the current season, Manchester City might find a substantial offer tempting, considering Rodri is approaching the age of 30. However, the Cityzens are unlikely to rush into a sale unless they find a suitable replacement for the Spaniard, who was integral to their victorious UCL campaign.
