Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has recorded a business of ₹46 crore by selling 1,100 tonnes of sweets during this festive season, a growth of 38%, according to Animal Husbandry and Sericulture Minister K. Venkatesh.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, he said in 2024, KMF achieved the sale of 725 tonnes of Nandini sweets, amounting to a business turnover of ₹33.48 crore during the festive period.
With the concerted efforts of KMF and its member unions, this year’s festive sales have surpassed all previous records, reaching an impressive 1100 tonnes of sweets, which accounts for a 38% growth in turnover compared to the previous year’s same festival period, said the Minister.
Season’s surge
During the festive seasons of Dasara and Deepavali, there has always been a significant surge in the demand for sweets. Keeping this in view, KMF had undertaken extensive pre-festival preparations in coordination with its member milk unions to meet the expected rise in demand, he said.
In other states
KMF presently procures an average of one crore litres of milk per day from dairy farmers across the State. Out of this, around 65 lakh litres of milk, curd, and UHT milk are sold daily in both state and out-of-state markets.
Under the “Nandini” brand, KMF markets a wide range of dairy products, including ghee, butter, paneer, sweets, milk powder, beverages, and more, totalling over 175 varieties.
Nandini products are available not only across Karnataka but also in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Delhi, Assam, and even select overseas markets.
