 Security to be beefed up around Arun Jaitley stadium after New Delhi tragedy

Security measures will be strengthened at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium for the final day of the Ranji Trophy Group D match between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir. This decision follows a major explosion near the Red Fort, located just kilometres from the stadium."Security to be beefed up near Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (renamed Arun Jaitley Stadium) on the final day of the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Janmu & Kashmir," Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Sharma told PTI on Monday."I would be getting in touch with Delhi Police authorities and request them to deploy additional security outside the stadium premises," he added.The explosion took place during a busy evening when many people were present in the area.

Twenty-four people sustained injuries in the incident.Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been briefed about a car explosion near Delhi's Red Fort on Monday evening. Home Minister Amit Shah updated him about the incident.The blast claimed eight lives and left 24 people injured. The cause remains under investigation."Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening.

May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and other officials," Modi said.President Droupadi Murmu expressed her sympathies following the incident."I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the blast that has taken place in Delhi. I pray for quick recovery of those injured," she stated.Home Minister Amit Shah provided details about the situation and mentioned they are exploring all possibilities."This evening, around 7 pm, a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi. The blast injured some pedestrians and damaged some vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate that some people have lost their lives. Within 10 minutes of receiving the information of the blast, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the spot," Shah said.
