The former MLA Narasimha Naik (Rajugouda) has urged the State government to release immediate compensation to farmers who have lost crops owing to extensive rain and floods in Yadgir district.

Addressing a press conference in Yadgir on Monday, Mr. Naik said that the district has suffered huge loss due to copious rainfall and also floods.

“Standing crops such as cotton, red gram, paddy and other crops in 1.18 lakh hectares have been destroyed and hundreds of houses have been damaged,” he said.

Stating that except an aerial survey, nothing has been done to release compensation, Mr. Naik urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to release immediate compensation to mitigate the sufferings of the affected farmers.

The former MLA said that illegal sand extraction in the district has reached its peak. He said that illegal sand transportation continues in the district unabated and instead of taking action, officers have joined hands with sand extractors.

Saying that Sub Inspector of Police in Narayanpur Rajshekhar celebrated his birthday with a history sheeter in the police station, Mr. Naik urged Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar to take action against the policeman.

BJP district unit president Basavaraj Vibhutihalli, CMC Chairperson Lalita Anpur, Devendra Nath Nad, Ameen Reddy Patil and others were present.
