The State government on Friday urged Karnataka to ensure that 31. 24 tmc ft. of water due to the State for July, was received at Biligundlu, in line with the directions of the Supreme Court.

Tamil Nadu made the request virtually during the 41st meeting of the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) on Friday, an official release said. Secretary of Water Resources Department J. Jayakanthan made the request on behalf of Tamil Nadu.

During the meeting, Mr. Jayakanthan recalled that water was released from Mettur dam for irrigation on June 12 and the storage was 84.22 tmcft. as on Friday.

CWMA chairperson S.K. Haldar chaired the meeting. TN delegation including Mr. Jayakanthan and Cauvery Technical Cell chairperson R. Subramanian and senior officials took part in the meeting virtually.
