On August 29, NFL Insider Adam Schefter informed cyberspace that the New England Patriots are releasing their veteran safety Jabrill Peppers. The 2025 season could have been the safety’s second year on the contract extension, but his 2024 campaign was marred by a hamstring injury and an October 2024 arrest for domestic violence and possession of cocaine.

He was acquitted of a domestic violence charge, but he pleaded guilty to a possession of cocaine charge. Peppers was placed on the Commissioner Exempt List in October 2024 and removed from the List in November 2024.

The veteran safety accumulated only 40 tackles, two for a loss, and one interception in the 2024 season. However, in the 2025 season, New England finished the training camp with veteran safety Jaylinn Hawkins and rookie safety Craig Woodson.

The Patriots released Peppers six days before the 2025 season.
