Relocation plans under way for Carpenters Colony residents, says R&B Minister

Minister for Roads and Buildings B.C. Janardhan Reddy on Tuesday (March 3, 2026) announced that alternate lands were being identified to relocate people from Carpenters Colony, constructed in Jurreru Vaagu. He said following the Supreme Court’s orders regarding encroachment of river beds, the government initiated action and started identifying alternate lands for the residents.

Mr. Janardhan Reddy along with Joint Collector K. Karthik reviewed lands on Tuesday. He also participated in distribution of pattadar passbooks to eligible farmers in Jwalapuram village of Banaganapalle Constituency limits.

Addressing the farmers, Mr. Janardhan Reddy said that the NDA government had scrapped the Land Titling Act of the previous government and is giving passbooks with the State Emblem fulfilling its poll promise. He said farmers can approach the officials if there are any lapses in the passbooks and get them rectified.

He alleged that the previous government’s land re-survey was mired with several irregularities and lapses and had also printed the photographs of the then Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on pattadar passbooks.

Mr. Janardhan Reddy said that the NDA government is delivering welfare and development oriented governance and had enhanced the pensions from ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 per month even as the State’s finances are in a precarious position. He said that the government has completed the GNSS and Gorakallu projects which were neglected by the previous government.

Mr. Janardhan Reddy said that they got ₹23 crore sanctioned for Daddanala lift irrigation project during the previous TDP government but the same was ignored by the YSRCP government. Around 28 villages in Padamatapalle and 12 villages in Koilkuntla mandal are dependent for irrigation water from Daddanala project, he added.
