Bhopal: A CBI special court on Tuesday extended the judicial remand of former district judge Giribala Singh and her lawyer son Samarth Singh till June 30 in the case of the suspicious death of Samarth’s wife Twisha Sharma in Bhopal on May 12 night. The two, lodged in Bhopal Central Jail, were produced via video-conference before CBI special magistrate Shobhana Bhalave after their 14-day remand expired. The court accepted the agency’s plea for a further 14 days in custody. On Twisha’s second post mortem report, the CBI told the court that the report has not yet been received from AIIMS, Delhi.A team of doctors from AIIMS, Delhi, had conducted a second autopsy on Twisha Sharma’s body following a MP high court order for the purpose on the petition of Twisha’s father on May 23.The family of Twisha had been insisting for a second post mortem expressing apprehension that her first autopsy a day after she allegedly committed suicide may have been tampered to favour the accused Giribala and her son. The first autopsy report had indicated Twisha’s death by hanging. The counsel for Twisha’s family, Ankur Panddey, told TOI that the CBI told the court that the report of the second autopsy report has not been received as yet.

He further said Giribala, during the hearing, requested the court to relax the time restriction on her meeting with her lawyer in jail and providing her the seizure memo on things seized from home. The court accepted the latter demand but declined the former.Giribala’s counsel Enosh George Carlo said his client asked the judge to instruct the jail authorities to give time for meeting visitors including her lawyer according to the jail manual. She is being given newspapers after cutting certain news items relating to news regarding her case, which should stop and the court agreed. She further said that seizure memos including the psychiatric medicines being taken by Twisha should be given to her, which the court conceded. He further said that Giribala Singh further requested the court that the order of the supreme court in the matter should be followed in letter & spirit but family of Twisha continue to give statements/interviews in the media on the incident, which must stop.
