Repairs to affect water supply in Bicholim

Bicholim: Water supply in Bicholim taluka and Mayem constituency will be restricted on Friday and Saturday due to maintenance works.PWD official Nehal Mandrekar said the main pipelines, which are presently situated in a private property, need to be shifted to a govt property.Mandrekar said the water supply has to be stopped for repairs, and there are fewer chances for resumption of supply on Nov 7. He also said that water tankers will be arranged for water supply where needed.He said Nov 8, water might be released in the second half of the day, but it depends on work completion.Bicholim municipal council chairperson Vijayakumar Natekar said efforts will be made to supply water to the places in need, and he will remain in touch with the PWD officials.Local Gopal Chodankar said the PWD should supply water through tankers if the water supply stops completely. He welcomed the decision to shift the pipeline to govt land and urged govt to make sure that the public is unaffected.
