Pramoda Devi Wadiyar of the erstwhile royal family of Mysore has requested Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru to close the Mysuru palace on September 1 and 2 for the general public to facilitate security arrangements for President Droupadi Murmu’s visit.

In a letter dated August 21, 2025, addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, who is also the Executive Officer of Mysuru Palace Board, Ms. Wadiyar said that the invitation extended by her to the President to visit the palace has been accepted.

Hence, it is necessary that the Mysuru palace be closed to the general public for a full day on September 1 and half a day on September 2 as part of the “security arrangements to ensure smooth and secure conduct of the President’s visit,” said Ms. Wadiyar in the letter.

It may be mentioned here that President Murmu is scheduled to arrive in the city on September 1 to participate in the diamond jubilee celebrations of the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing.
