Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy appealed to the voters of Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency to elect Congress candidate Navin Yadav, asserting that the bypoll was not about sentiment but about the future and development of Hyderabad.
Speaking at corner meetings in Jubilee Hills constituency, the Chief Minister urged voters not to miss the opportunity to ensure victory for the Congress candidate as Mr. Naveen Yadav would be their voice in the Assembly.
Recalling past political developments, he accused BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao of starting the ‘unholy tradition’ of contesting even against families of deceased leaders.
“When P. Janardhan Reddy passed away in 2007, rival parties like BJP and TDP wanted to let his family be elected unanimously out of respect. But it was KCR who fielded a TRS candidate against them. Such people now seek sympathy votes,” he said.
The Chief Minister ridiculed both BRS and BJP for what he described as a ‘Fevicol bond’, alleging that the two parties were working together to halt Hyderabad’s progress. He also alleged that Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy was blocking Metro expansion and the Musi river development projects simply because he fears Congress and Revanth Reddy will get credit,” he said.
Mr. Reddy questioned what the BJP’s two Union Ministers had done for Telangana. “Instead of talking about carpet bombing in Jubilee Hills, they should explain what funds has Modi given? What projects have BJP MPs brought?” he asked.
He said the BRS was provoking auto drivers as it was unable to digest free RTC bus travel for women. Referring to BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao’s recent campaign, he said, “They roam around in autos for photos, but these are the same people who ignored auto drivers for 10 years.”
The Chief Minister cautioned voters that if BRS returned to power, they would stop free bus travel, 200 units of free power and ration cards, and end the supply of subsidised fine rice to the poor. Mr. Reddy also defended former cricketer and Minister Mohammad Azharuddin, asking why is BJP so envious.
