Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will lay the foundation stone for a series of key drinking water projects on Monday aimed at rejuvenating reservoirs and improving water supply to the capital city and the areas abutting the Outer Ring Road.

As part of the Musi Rejuvenation Programme, the Chief Minister will inaugurate the Godavari Drinking Water Scheme Phase II and III, designed to fill the Osmansagar and Himayatsagar reservoirs with fresh water. The project will be taken up under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) at ₹7,360 crore, with the government contributing 40% and the contracting company mobilising 60%.

The project is expected to be completed within two years. Water will be drawn from Mallannasagar Reservoir, transporting 20 TMC ft of which 2.5 TMC ft will be allocated for the rejuvenation of Musi by refilling Osmansagar and Himayatsagar, while 17.5 TMC ft will be used to meet Hyderabad’s drinking water needs. Along the route, seven intermediate reservoirs will also be filled.

The government has set a target of December 2027 to ensure daily piped water supply across Hyderabad, fulfilling the city’s long-term drinking water requirements.

The Chief Minister will also inaugurate the Outer Ring Road (ORR) Phase-II drinking water project, taken up at ₹1,200 crore. Under this scheme, drinking water will be supplied to GHMC areas, municipalities, municipal corporations and gram panchayats along the ORR.

As part of the initiative, 71 reservoirs have been constructed, including 15 newly built ones that will be formally inaugurated on Monday. The project will benefit 25 lakh people in 14 mandals covering Saroornagar, Maheshwaram, Shamshabad, Hayathnagar, Ibrahimpatnam, Ghatkesar, Keesara, Rajendranagar, Shamirpet, Medchal, Quthbullapur, RC Puram, Patancheru and Bolarum.

In addition, the Chief Minister will also lay the foundation for the ₹298 crore Kokapet Layout Integrated Development Project for drinking water and sewage treatment systems for the Neopolis-SEZ area. The two-year project is expected to directly benefit 13 lakh residents.
