Minister for Revenue, Registration and Stamps Anagani Satya Prasad has urged people living along the Krishna River to remain vigilant as flood levels at Prakasam Barrage continue to rise.
The Minister directed the officials to constantly monitor flood-prone areas, particularly lanka villages adjacent to the embankments in Repalle and Vemuru constituencies. Authorities have been instructed to keep residents alert and, if necessary, evacuate those in low-lying areas to designated relief camps.
All leaves of revenue officials have been cancelled to ensure round-the-clock supervision, while police and disaster management teams have been asked to stay prepared for emergency response. Mr. Satya Prasad direccted officials to focus on preventive measures to safeguard river embankments and avoid breaches.
With a cyclonic storm crossing the coast, fishermen have been strictly warned not to venture into the sea under any circumstances. The Minister further cautioned residents against attempting to cross the swollen Krishna River or its canals.
Reassuring the public, Mr. Satya Prasad appealed not to panic or believe rumors circulating on social media. “The State government is fully prepared to tackle any eventuality,” he said. Officials are maintaining strict vigil along the river embankments as inflows continue to surge.
