Revised Kerala Budget: additional allocations worth a little over ₹300 crore announced

Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Wednesday announced additional allocations in the Revised Budget, amounting to a little over ₹300 crore.

The Chief Minister also announced that the government will examine the report of the J.B. Koshy Commission, appointed to study the educational, economic and welfare issues of Christian minorities, and implement the recommendations.

An additional allocation of ₹100 crore has been announced for the Industries, IT, Future Technologies and AI, Mr. Satheesan informed the State Legislative Assembly. The General Education department will receive an additional ₹50 crore.

Among the other allocations, the Excise department will get ₹5 crore for enforcement activities. A sum of ₹1 crore has been earmarked for building a memorial to veteran Communist and former Minister K.R. Gowri at Aroor.

The three-day general discussion on the Revised Budget concluded on Wednesday. The Assembly will reconvene next week for the discussion on the demands for grants and the presentation of the Finance and the Appropriation Bills, Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said.
