Students of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) will offer yoga training to nearly 10 lakh people in the State as part of the ongoing ‘Yogandhra’ programme and International Yoga Day, which falls on June 21.
The university has launched a student-led yoga training programme in all the RGUKT campuses in Andhra Pradesh as part of community service. Directors of R.K. Valley, Nuzvid, Srikakulam and Ongole campuses, administrative officers, deans of student welfare, chief wardens, NSS programme officers, yoga instructors and physical directors have created social media groups for better coordination between the management and students.
“RGUKT has prepared a yoga protocol and shared it to the students who were at their homes for summer vacations. Close to 20,000 students of the university will train nearly 10 lakh people across the State,” said RGUKT registrar Amarendra Kumar Sandra.
The university has been offering students yoga training in all the campuses by appointing yoga instructors, as part of the curriculum,. “RGUKT students have won many prizes in yoga competitions at the State and national levels,” the registrar told The Hindu on Monday. The students are advised to coordinate with the headmasters of the schools in which they studied earlier for conducting the training programmes. Each student should train 50 persons, he added.
After returning to their campuses, the students must submit five photographs, with date and the location where the training sessions were held as proof, and a photograph taken during the International Yoga Day programme, along with the authentication letter issued by the headmaster or village sarpanch, said Mr. Amarendra Kumar, who is also the in-charge director of Nuzvid campus.
RGUKT management will award a certificate of participation, which will be considered under the mandatory community service component of the curriculum, the registrar said.
