The rituals ahead of the consecration of Lord Subramaniya Swami Temple on July 7 commenced in the shrine on Tuesday.

After the holy water was brought from the sea with prayers, the rituals started in the aesthetically decked ‘yaga saalaa’ on the temple premises.

District Collector K. Elambahavath checked the arrangements being made for the consecration at the temple. He went around the temporary bus stands, parking areas at J.J. Nagar near Veerapandianpattinam, Government ITI and in front of Sivanthi Aditanar memorial and other spots where the vehicular traffic regulations are to be done till July 8. He asked the officials to level the ground properly.

While inspecting the spots identified for installing giant LED screens to screening the rituals happening inside the temple, he asked the officials to operate a few of them to check the quality of the visuals. The Collector checked the quality of drinking water in the booths and asked the officials to keep the toilets clean with sufficient water supply. He checked the street lights along the roads.

Mr. Elambahavath visited the kitchen to be set-up on Senthil Andavar Higher Secondary School premises and the sheds to be erected there for ‘annadhaanam’.

He instructed the police and the Fire and Rescue Services personnel to deploy their men in sufficient numbers along the beach and deploy the rope to prevent the devotees from moving to the deeper parts of the sea.
