A 23-year-old cab driver’s argument over road rage escalated into a violent clash between two groups in Ashok Nagar police station limits in the early hours of Monday (November 3, 2025).
Police said the cab driver, who was returning home after having tea, got into an altercation with his rival. The verbal fight soon turned physical, drawing in friends and family members from both sides.
In the ensuing melee, several people sustained injuries, including the parents of one of the accused.
The incident occurred when Mohammed Imran, a cab driver from Neelasandra, was returning home after having tea with his two friends, Abdul and Suhail, on a scooter around 1.30 a.m.
The accused, identified as Rahil, Rahul, Raza Abbas, Sameer Annu, Akhil, and Nawaz, allegedly followed him in two bikes and picked up a fight over a road rage incident. The accused had old rivalry with the accused, the police said.
While Imran tried to reason with them, Rahil allegedly pulled out a sword and attacked him. Imran sustained injuries on his thigh and fell down from the scooter. The accused allegedly tried to stab him again, but he resisted. The accused later sped away warning him of dire consequences. Imran was later rushed to the hospital for treatment and based on his statement, the police registered a case of attempt to murder and another under Arms Act against the accused.
Meanwhile, in retaliation, a group of men allegedly barged into the house of the prime accused, Rahil, in Austin Town and attacked him with lethal weapons. While Rahil managed to escape, the armed gang allegedly beat up his parents and younger brother when they questioned them.
The accused later brought the injured in an autorickshaw to the station where Abbas Ali, Rahil ‘s father, collapsed outside the station. Abbas Ali was later admitted to Victoria hospital for treatment. Based on the complaint filed by Haseena Taj, Rahil’s mother, the police have registered a case against six people charging them under attempt to murder and the Arms Act. Further investigations are on.
