Premier League side Wolves are set to appoint Rob Edwards as the team’s head coach early next week in an attempt to overturn the fortunes of the club.

Wolves languish at the very bottom of the English top-flight after the conclusion of eleven games with just two points to their name and no wins yet in the campaign.

The 42-year-old Edwards is expected to put pen to paper on a 3-and-a-half-year contract on Monday, and the club have reportedly agreed to pay Middlesbrough £2m as compensation.

James Collins has been serving as the interim head coach since Vitor Pereira was dismissed due to the team’s poor start to the season.

Pereira had signed a new three-year contract in September after successfully keeping Wanderers in the top flight last season.

However, with only two points accumulated so far this season, the club’s eight-year tenure in the top division is under serious threat.

Following a 16th place finish last season, Pereira faced the challenge of losing key forward Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, and full-backs Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nelson Semedo, who transferred to Manchester City and Fenerbahce respectively, during the off-season.

Fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the club’s Chinese owners, Fosun, due to a perceived lack of investment in the squad.

Initially, Pereira was popular with fans, often celebrating wins with them in pubs near Molineux.

However, this relationship deteriorated this season, culminating in an incident where Pereira had to be escorted away from an angry confrontation with fans following the 3-2 defeat to Burnley last weekend.
