Bollywood and Assamese cinema fans are still mourning the loss of legendary singer and actor Zubeen Garg, who passed away on 19 September 2025 in Singapore. Known for his unforgettable songs like ‘Ya Ali’ and ‘Dil Tu Hi Bataa’, Zubeen left behind a rich musical legacy and a final gift for fans, his last film, ‘Roi Roi Binale’.Released in theatres on October 31, 2025, the film became an instant emotional experience for fans. But within days of its release, the film fell prey to piracy, leading to a major police investigation and the arrest of a man accused of leaking clips online.
Police arrest YouTuber for leaking movie clips
As reported by PTI, a man named Rafiqul Islam was arrested from Lakhipur in Goalpara district for allegedly uploading video clips of Zubeen’s last film on his YouTube channel called ‘Rafiqul R Vlogs’.Police confirmed that Rafiqul was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court, which later remanded him to three days of police custody. Authorities have also launched an investigation to find out if others were involved in spreading pirated content of the film.
Case registered under cyber and copyright laws
The case against Rafiqul Islam was registered at the Cyber Police Station, Panbazar, under multiple laws including the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, along with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Copyright Act, 1957, and the Cinematograph Act, 1952.
The complaint was officially filed by Shyamantak Gautam, the producer of ‘Roi Roi Binale’, who alleged that unauthorised people were uploading the film online only a few days after its release.The police have since taken strict measures to curb any further leaks and have urged people not to share, download, or distribute the movie illegally.
Assam CM calls piracy a serious concern
Taking strong notice of the situation, on Monday, Assam Chief Minister Dr
Himanta Biswa Sarma
publicly condemned the act of piracy and urged people to refrain from engaging in such illegal activities.In his statement to News Live, he said, “The issue of piracy of Zubeen Garg’s movie Roi Roi Binale is a matter of serious concern. I have already instructed police to take stringent action against those uploading the movie or clips of it on various platforms. People should desist from piracy and I also appeal the general people to report people involved in piracy of movies to the police.”
Film becomes emotional farewell for fans
‘Roi Roi Binale’ holds a special place in the hearts of Zubeen Garg’s fans.
The movie follows the life of a blind musician and his emotional journey through struggles and hope. The film features 11 soulful songs, all composed by Zubeen himself, making it even more meaningful as his final creative work.
‘Roi Roi Binale’ earns big at box office
Even as piracy threatened to affect its earnings, ‘Roi Roi Binale’ managed to achieve record-breaking success at the box office. As of 12 days after its release, according to Sacnilk the film made an impressive Rs 17.23 crore at the domestic box office. It became the highest-grossing Assamese film ever.
