Ronda Rousey says she believes she could finally get the better of Holly Holm, but she no longer feels the need to prove it. The former UFC champion recently responded after Holly Holm said she would be open to a rematch.

Holm made the comments during an interview with MMA Fighting, although she admitted she doubts Rousey would accept the fight. Rousey addressed the topic while speaking on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams (h/t Fightful for the transcription). While Rousey said she feels stronger and healthier than ever, she also explained that her life has changed in ways that make a comeback much less important. Instead of chasing old goals, the former UFC star says her focus is now on her family and her children.The comments bring fresh attention to one of the biggest rivalries in women’s MMA. Holm shocked the combat sports world when she knocked out Rousey at UFC 193 in November 2015, handing her the first loss of her professional MMA career.

Speaking on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, Ronda Rousey said she is retired and has no plans to return to competition. However, she believes she is a much different fighter today than she was during the final years of her UFC career.

Rousey revealed that she was diagnosed with cortical spreading depression, a neurological condition that she believes played a major role in the problems she experienced during her last fights. She said a new treatment has helped her and made a significant difference.“I said I’m retired, A, and B, I think that I am a completely different fighter now and I would clean her clock,” Rousey said.The former champion explained that years ago, a chance to face Holly Holm again would have meant everything to her.

At the time, she wanted redemption and hoped to erase the disappointment of her loss. She also dreamed about returning for bigger fights, larger opportunities, and another run at the top.Things are different now. Rousey said she believes she has better coaching than ever before and feels healthier than she did during her fighting career. Even with those improvements, she no longer views a rematch as something she needs.According to Rousey, becoming a mother changed her perspective. She said spending time with her children now means far more to her than proving herself to fans or critics.The former UFC champion added that she already knows what she is capable of and does not need public validation. Although she believes she could beat Holm and change the narrative surrounding their rivalry, she said the result no longer defines her happiness.Meanwhile, Holly Holm is preparing for her next challenge. The former UFC champion is scheduled to face Stephanie Han on May 30 for the WBA Lightweight Championship under the Most Valuable Promotions banner.For now, Holm may still be open to revisiting one of MMA’s most famous matchups. But based on Rousey’s latest comments, the former champion appears content leaving that chapter in the past and focusing on the life she has built outside the cage.
